I'm New

Welcome to First UMC The Colony

Welcome to First United Methodist Church The Colony! Our vision as a faith community is to be a loving church ALL working to eradicate spiritual, relational, and nutritional insecurities in our neighborhood. What that looks like programmatically might vary based on the gifts of our congregation and the season of ministry we're in. But we hope it includes you! All are welcomed in our congregation and we hope at FUMCTC you can find a faith home to grow in your relationship with God and others, so that your life might grow even more into Christ's likeness.

I look forward to seeing you in worship,

Rev. Taylor Smith

What to Expect When You Visit

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What time is Worship?

Our services follow a traditional liturgy (i.e. Order of Service). Our 8:30 AM service is a small intimate service for those who like to start the day early. Our 11:00 AM service usually has the largest attendance. Regardless of which service you attend, the sermons are usually the same.

  • What about Children?

Children are 100% welcomed in any of our services, wiggles and all!

Children in Worship | An important component of raising children in the Christian faith is inviting them to experience worship. We welcome children of all ages in worship, wiggles and all. If, however, you need to excuse yourself there is a Family Room located in the back of the sanctuary. The Family Room can be accessed door in the Narthex, just outside of the sanctuary. Ushers will be happy to help you find the room. In the Family Room you can see and hear worship while your child gets their wiggles out.

Children's Moment (AKA Young Disciples) |There is a special Young Disciples segment at each service for all children and youth. At the 11:00 service, immediately following Young Disciples (roughly 11:15 AM), children younger than 2nd grade are invited into the loving care of our nursery staff.

Nursery | Nursery care is available each Sunday during the 11:00 service for children ages 6 months through Pre-K

  • Is there Nursery Care?

Yes! All infants up to and including 5 years old are welcome to stay in our nursery which is open from 9:30 - 12:15pm. This allows you to attend Sunday School from (9:45-10:45) and/or service at (11:00). Our paid nursery staff are trained and Red Cross CPR-certified. Volunteers that assist in the nursery have all completed our "Ministry Safe" background check and safety training.

  • Can I Participate in Communion?

Our communion services are the first Sunday of every month and during special holiday services. In the United Methodist Church, anyone and everyone is invited to participate in Holy Communion. So no matter your age, your past, your whether your a believer or questioning, ALL are welcomed to the table of grace.

  • What is Parking Like?

FUMCTC has ample parking and you may park in any available spot. However, designated guest parking spots are available in the middle row with light poles. It's perfectly OK to drop your family off near the main entrance before finding a parking spot. There is always someone welcoming members and guests so if you have any questions, they are a great place to start.

  • How Should I Dress?

Dress at FUMCTC is casual. You're likely to see people in everything from jeans and a button-down to a skirt or dress. Youth may be running around in shorts and t-shirt whereas others may be in a coat.

The Pastor and Choir wear robe during services throughout the school year, but typically take a break, opting for more casual attire during the warm summer months.

At the end of the day, we just hope you'll be comfortable!
