We believe at FUMC The Colony that service in Christ's name is a vital component of Christian discipleship. The maturing Christian not only develops in knowledge and faith, but also develops in his or her service toward others. At FUMCTC there are a number of ways to serve: both in the church and in the community. We pray our congregation is a safe place for you to explore serving and, ultimately, that service might begin to transform your life as you seek to transform the world.

The NTX Community Food Pantry began in The Colony, TX in 2007 and serves The Colony, SE Denton County and surrounding areas. We serve over 450 families each month who experience food insecurity in their homes due to a variety of reasons: including low income families, single parents, senior citizens, unemployed individuals, disabled veterans, and anyone else who comes to the pantry seeking food assistance. Guests may visit the pantry once a week to receive supplemental help with groceries. We have always been a client choice pantry by giving guests the opportunity to choose their own groceries according to their needs.
To meet the growing needs in our area, NTX Community Food Pantry partners with The North Texas Food Bank and is an approved affiliate agency of the food bank. This affiliation allows the food pantry to receive groceries at a reduced cost and helps NTX Community Food Pantry to keep the pantry shelves full in both good and tough economic times. NTX Community Food Pantry provides food to feed families in need. Based on availability, we distribute meat (frozen or canned), peanut butter, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as non-perishable canned food items to our guests.
The Food Pantry has partnered with several local restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and corporate kitchens to do 'food rescues'. Food rescuing is a term used when the food pantry is given food by these businesses which in turn is offered to pantry guests. Food rescue also keeps good food out of the waste stream and landfills.
