About Laura Bateman

More About Laura!

Laura serves as Music Director at First United Methodist Church The Colony (FUMCTC). She leads the Chancel Choir and the Children’s Choir – cultivating skills for expressing faith in Christ through music. Laura learned to worship through song at her childhood church while growing up in Arlington, Texas. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where she earned both a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a Master of Arts in Teaching. Since college, serving in a church choir and leading music at church has been an important part of Laura’s faith journey. Her professional career began with teaching middle school choir for eight years, first in Mesquite, Texas and then in Carrollton, Texas. Since 2012, she has grown a private voice studio at several middle schools in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD and in her home for singers of all ages. Prior to joining FUMCTC, Laura directed the Joyful Noise children’s choir at Spring Valley United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. Laura loves helping children and adults develop their voice and musicianship in a positive and healthy way. When she isn’t singing, teaching, and leading worship music, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, Tim, and their children Leah, Hannah, and Noah.
