September 11 Memorial Service

Sunday, September 11th, 2016

We invite the community to participate in this event with First United Methodist Church The Colony as we host a ceremony commemorating the 15th anniversary of the lives lost on that tragic day. We’d love to have you participate. Here’s what you can do!

  • FLAG CEREMONY – Beginning at 7:30am on the front lawn, the local American Legion unit will hold a flag ceremony, followed by the reading of the names.
  • READING OF NAMES – At approximately 7:46am when the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center, volunteers will begin reading the names of those who died. The reading will take approximately 8 hours and we would love to have you read a few and pray for those families left behind. If interested in being one of the readers, contact May Boyer ( or 214.529.2108) or the church office or 972.625.1281).
  • WORSHIP SERVICES – At 8:30am &  11:00am.  It will be a unique service. We will have a special message that will include local neighbors that were at the US Pentagon during the attacks as well as special music by the choir.
