New Here?

Welcome to First Church The Colony!

We are excited that you are interested in knowing more about Christ and this local body of believers.

It is a privilege to assist you with any information so that we can connect you with Biblical community and encourage your walk with Christ. We know that we are imperfect people but we believe we have a perfect Savior and mission. We seek to be a transforming agent in this world by our witness, our worship, our spiritual formation, and our community outreach.

We are glad you are here. Here are a few links to get you started:

What To Expect When You Visit

What time are worship services?

Our services follow a traditional liturgy or Order of Service. Our 8:30 AM service is a small intimate service for those who like to start the day early. Our 11:00 AM service usually has the largest attendance. Regardless of which service you attend, the sermons are usually the same.

There is a special Young Disciples segment at each service for all children and youth. At the 11:00 service, immediately following Young Disciples (roughly 11:15 AM), children younger than 2nd grade are invited into the loving care of our nursery staff.

All children are invited to attend Sunday School at 9:45AM.

Yes. All infants up to and including 5 years old are welcome to stay in our nursery during both services. Our professional nursery staff are trained and Red Cross CPR-certified. There are at least 2 adults in the nursery at all times.

You may park in any available spot; designated guest parking spots are available in the middle row with light poles. It's perfectly OK to drop your family off near the main entrance before finding a parking spot. There is always someone welcoming members and guests so if you have any questions, they are a great place to start.

Yes! For those who are hearing impaired, we have special hearing devices that you can wear allowing you to control the volume. You can pick one up at our Media Center located at the back of the Sanctuary. If you have comfortable set of wired headphones, please bring them as we have a limited supply of ear-bud style headphones.

Our communion services are the first Sunday of every month and during special holiday services. In the United Methodist Church, all persons who profess faith in Jesus Christ are invited to participate in Holy Communion. This includes children, who are welcome at the Lord's Table, just as they are welcome at the table in your home.

Membership at First Church

Church membership is a wonderful opportunity to grow in grace and serve God! If you are interested in officially making Aldersgate your church home, you will want to talk with our pastor, Rev. Michael Bingham. He will help you consider the meaning of church membership and determine how you may join.
THERE ARE VARIED PATHWAYS TO JOINING THE CHURCH. THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS:

BAPTISM

If you have not been baptized before, then you should be baptized. The United Methodist Church practices all modes of Baptism: sprinking, pouring or immersion. It is your choice.

REAFFIRMATION

This is for baptized adults who are not currently members of a church. They may publicly reaffirm their faith.

AFFILIATE MEMBER

You come to Aldersgate United Methodist Church from another United Methodist Church where you desire to keep your full membership.

PROFESSION OF FAITH

You publicly profess your faith before God and the congregation. This is for adults who have been baptized as children but have not been confirmed or joined a church as an adult. It is also for young people who have completed a Confirmation class.

TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP

You transfer your membership to Aldersgate United Methodist Church from another United Methodist congregation or another denomination.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER

You come to Aldersgate United Methodist Church from another denomination and desire to keep your full membership with that church.
