Well, tomorrow is September. I’m ready for cooler weather. What are you ready for? Football? Probably. Homecoming? It’s gotta be coming around the corner. What about a closer relationship with God? Probably.
Sunday I was in the youth building with eight excellent fellows and we got to talking about why Jesus died for us. Why did Jesus forgive our sins? Most, no all, didn’t have a clue. Mainly because they thought it was some kind of complex question. But Jesus died for you coz then you could have a relationship with God. Who’s Jesus? God. Who’s God? God. Who’s the Holy Spirit? God. Get it. Jesus didn’t die because God wanted some kind of human sacrifice to substitute for all us sinners. In fact, we were forgiven before Jesus died. We were sinners and Jesus gave up his life so that we might get it. So do you? It’s a mystery that’s for sure, but one thing you know is that God loves you, yes, you so much that God became human, lived with us, healed, taught, and ate with us, and we learned about how to live in God’s will and how to love. Good stuff. Thanks to God.
K. Here’s the scoop. On Friday, August 20 at 7 pm be at the church with $5 in hand and something to lay on and ready to have fun. On Saturday, August 21 we will get up EARLY coz we’re gonna go roust the sixth graders out of bed and all go to IHOP for breakfast (bring money for food). On Sunday, we are gonna have the big water slide back for WATER GAMES!!! I haven’t got the time down for this one, but it will probably be 5 pm as usual. We are doing the games in conjunction with K.I.C.K. And we will have pizza. K?
I know that no one is reading this blog. I can tell coz it tells me so. Don’t lie to me. You aren’t reading this…no, you weren’t reading this but I made a big stink and now you’re here to see what the smell was about. So, I hope you’ve read all the previous posts so that you’re up to speed….which isn’t very fast…..
It’s August, well, almost, and that means it’s coming to the end of lazy summer and back to school. In order to do justice to this violation of laziness, we are going to have a lock-in. I know, you’re totally bummed because you thought I meant a Bible study….haha. No, we are having an El Cheapo Lock-in. What does that mean? (don’t get out much?) Well, it means it’s not gonna cost much, which means that we are gonna stay at the church and do things…..movies, games (some really elaborate, outside/inside ones, and maybe a few messy ones), and eating, and stuff. Then on Saturday, we will get up and go roust the sixth-graders out of bed and go to IHOP. I didn’t think this up by myself, I had help…..a lot of you guys talking to me about what would be fun and such. Okay? Yeah, you can bring friends. I just need to know who’s going by the Sunday before, that’d be August 15. That’s solid. Get it done.

Oh man, oh man, it’s hot!!!! Who turned on the oven in Texas? I’m glad we don’t have mission trip now!!!!!! Aren’t you?????
Okay, for the month of August we have a few things going on. I’m thinking about what we have going on while I type and I’m thinking it’s time for some fun that doesn’t involve much thinking….hmmmmm.
So while I’m thinking, let me tell you about a few other things:
- Did you know that we have a FB page? Yeah, it’s called Crossfire Ministry FUMC The Colony. Join it. That’s where I’ll post these monthly thingys and any upcoming news and stuff….like the fact that Natalie has eaten a million donuts over the summer! I mean that literally…..Do you write all of those down in your gymnastics diet book????
- Did you know we have a student blog on our website? Yeah, I’ve already posted stuff…you can too. It’s a really good place to go to find out what’s going on and if we all use it we will know what’s going on with you….so there.
Alrighty, I’m done thinking (I have a headache) and I think we should do a few things on Saturday, August 21. There’s the hmm-hmm with the hmm-hmm graders in the morning (6:30 am meet at the church) and then there’s the hmm-hmm at hmm-hmm. But then we should probably do some other stuff. I’m thinking low cost, but what do you think? Oh, good time to use the blog!
WE DO HAVE SUNDAY MORNING CLASSES AND THIS IS YOUR MONTH TO SEE CHUCK BEFORE HE STOPS TEACHING (he’s got a girlfriend!) SO COME….besides learning about Jesus is fun….do you know anyone who wants to teach? Hey, why don’t you come Sunday mornings all year???

This is our newest thing courtesy of David Stanwick, father of Christopher and Jonathan! I will write things that are going to happen or that I’m thinking about or maybe stuff like what we will talk about at the Book of James Study on Thursdays beginning July 29 at noon. We will meet at Larry’s for lunch and then meander over to the youth building for some talking.
Right now I’m getting stuff ready for VBS!!! Especially volunteers~~I need some more!!! Who’s helping? So far, Anthony, Jonathan, Emily, Christopher, Abby, Ashley, Nicole, Natalie and maybe a few of you I can’t remember, it’s after lunch….I have sleepy brain! But, if you can help….do it!!!!
If you’ve got digital pix from Mission Trip, burn me a cd or something! I want to make a slide show!!!!!
