Job Description

A member of the leadership team who plans, develops, coordinates, implements and directs all aspects of the Church’s music program. Reports to Senior Pastor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guides the work of all music programs through the year in consultation with the Pastor
    • Adult choir
    • Children’s choirs (Cantate, Cherub)
    • Instrument choirs (adult hand bell, children’s chimes, etc.)
  • Creates proposed budget and manages all spending and fundraising income
  • Ensures music licenses are properly obtained and are within budget
  • Implements and follows a maintenance/service schedule for all musical instruments
  • Oversees the music library
  • Provides guidance to the church accompanist and put together music copies each week in preparation for Sunday
  • Organizes and oversees all volunteers for the music ministry
  • Coordinates schedule with other departments as needed (i.e. liturgical dancers, etc.)
  • Attends staff meetings and Administrative Council meetings as required
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
  • Works cooperatively with other staff members and volunteers, and is an effective team member
  • This position requires being available and physically present at the church facility on certain days
  • (Sundays, during choir practice, during Administrative Council meetings, Easter, Christmas and other holidays as defined by the Pastor)
  • Works closely with the Technical Team and provides all lyrics on PowerPoint slides

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in some area of music strongly preferred
  • Two years of choral conducting experience
  • Capable of leading worship vocally
  • Functional keyboard skills – able to play for sectionals or rehearsal if need be
  • Working knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques and conducting
  • Basic knowledge of copyright laws as they relate to choral church music
  • Strong organizational skills, strong attention to detail, strong communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality
  • MS Publisher skills preferred but not required

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, although the Music
Director does provide guidance to the church accompanist.

Position Type: This is a ½ salary position.

Salary Range: $24,000 – $30,000 depending on experience.
